The Alpen Rhine – From Bündner countryside to Lake Constance

Four countries in 8 days / 7 nights from 499,- €.
The Swiss Alpen Rhine connects the mountains of Graubünden with Lake Constance. This tour starts in Constance, then you will travel by train to the Alps and cycle through four countries: Switzerland, Lichtenstein, Austria and Germany. The tour follows gently downhill alongside the Rhine on good quality paths. Enjoy the air dried Bündner meat, a Pinot Noir or whitefish and perch from Lake Constance.
Day 1
Individual Journey to Konstanz
Take the chance today to visit the flower island Mainau, the "fifth season" of Lake Constance, or enjoy a ramble through the well preserved old part of Konstanz with the council building, the cathedral, the winding laneways of Niederburg and the Mediterranean harbour with the famous statue of "Imperia". Peter Lenk created this controversial monument, for the prostitutes during the time of the Konstanz Council, where between 1414 and 1418 the only meetings of the church north of the Alps occurred.

Day 2
Constance – Bonaduz, train journey
Today you have a difficult choice to make: You can either enjoy the morning on lake Constance and then take the train to the starting point of your cycling trip or you can leave straight away after breakfast and can spend the afternoon getting to know the region where the different sections of the Rhine converge. An experience not to be missed is a day long train trip through Zürich and Andermatt to Bonaduz on board the legendary Glacier-Express. Whatever you decide to do we will transport your bikes and bicycles, which will be waiting for you in Bonaduz from the afternoon on.

Day 3
Excursions in the Bonaduz area
The small town lies at the point where the two Rhine rivers converge and both rivers provide spectacular attractions for visitors. The one river with the Viamala-Gorge was used as early as Roman times as a route through the Alps which was well-known for its quality. The other Rhine offers visitor the wildly romantic ruin of Aulta and a gorge which visitors can combine with a visit to the little town of Ilanz. Your travel documents will contain detailed tour suggestions.

A visit to the winegrowing villages of Zizers or Maienfeld, where excellent wines are produced is recommended but is a challenging bicycle ride.
