Extra offer for many journeys on the Upper Lake

With this tour we bring you high above the lake into Appenzell countryside. Your bike will stay behind at the hotel; you will travel with a rack railway for 20 minutes to Heiden, a famous spa resort, which after a terrible fire in 1838 was completely rebuilt in the Biedermeier style. Henry Dunant, the founder of the Red Cross, lived here for a long time and there is also a museum in his memory. You continue on by foot along the well signposted Appenzell path, which ensures beautiful views of the lake. In about 2 1/2 hours you will reach Walzenhausen, the "balcony over the lake". Here you will board a train again and return to Rheineck. This once imperial town doesn't lie on the Rhein anymore since the large correction in 1900, but lies on a small bayou of the river. Here you will board a small boat which will take you back to Rorschach. Alternatives | ||
