Day 1
Individual Journey to Constance Take the chance today to visit the flower island Mainau, the "fifth season" of Lake Constance, or enjoy a ramble through the well preserved old part of Konstanz with the council building, the cathedral, the winding laneways of Niederburg and the Mediterranean harbour with the famous statue of "Imperia". Peter Lenk created this controversial monument, for the prostitutes during the time of the Konstanz Council, where between 1414 and 1418 the only meetings of the church north of the Alps occurred. Overnight stay in or near Constance
Day 2
Constance – Stein am Rhein – Radolfzell/Sipplingen (approx. 49-68 km) Today’s tour will lead you from Constance through picturesque Swiss fishing villages. On the left bank of the Rhein you will reach Stein am Rhein with its medieval houses. Back on German territory you will cycle along the Höri peninsula through Gaienhofen and Hemmenhofen, where Hermann Hesse and Otto Dix once lived. Your destination is the old imperial town of Radolfzell which is now a health resort. Overnight stay in Radolfzell
Day 3
Radolfzell – Überlingen – Friedrichshafen (ca. 59 km) Today you will cross over the Bodanrück hills and will reach the Überlingen lake at Bodman. You will cycle along the lakeshore towards Überlingen with its gothic cathedral. You will cycle past the baroque pilgrimage church of Birnau and the reconstructed lake dwellings in Uhldingen on your way to Meersburg with its ancient Merovingian castle. The tour then continues on through vineyards to the Zeppelin town of Friedrichshafen, where the airship museum and the harbour are worth a visit. Overnight stay in the Friedrichshafen region
Day 4
Friedrichshafen – Lindau – Höchst (ca. 55 km) Your will pass through orchards and pretty villages today along your route to the island city of Lindau. You will also have a wonderful view of the Alps along the route. Cycling along the beautiful lakeshore you will quickly reach the Austrian city of Bregenz with its famous lakeside theatre stage. You will continue on in the direction of the Swiss border through the Rhein delta, which is an important nature preservation area. Overnight stay in the Höchst region
Day 5
Höchst – Romanshorn – Constance (ca. 49 km) The last day of the Lake Constance cycle tour leads you through the Swisss Canton of Thurgau which due to its many orchards and its comparatively isolated situation is also lovingly known as "Cider India". You then cycle along the lake shore through well kept small villages and towns back to the starting point of your cycling tour. Overnight stay in or near Constance
Day 6
Return Home or Extension of your Stay If you arrived late on your first day and didn’t get a chance to visit the island of Mainau then you will have the chance to see it today before you return home. We would however be also very pleased to extend your stay in the Lake Constance/Bodensee Region.
