Lake Constance Cycle Path 2014

„Am Bodensee beginnt der Süden- The South begins at Lake Constance“, this was a famous advertising slogan from the 50s and 60s. Due to the Mediterranean way of life the inhabitants of Constance often claim the town of the Vatican Council is the first town of northern Italy. At Lake Constance one can appreciate the mild climate, as well as the charm of the alleys and squares, which is reminiscent of the atmosphere on an Italian Piazza. On 273 kilometres you will cycle around Lake Constance on one of the most famous cycle paths in Central Europe, which always stays close to the lake.

Experience the old Vatican Council town of Constance with its medieval historical centre, the pilgrimage church Birnau, Bregenz Festival on the lake stage, or the Swiss apple region "Mostindien". Nature and culture are diverse  and the enchanting landscapes around Lake Constance harmoniously connect Germany, Austria and Switzerland and give the region its very distinct mark. The well-developed network of cycle paths offers a perfect cycling experience- not only does it take you along the shore of the large water reservoir, it also invites you into the attractive surrounding landscapes. Whether you will be visiting cosy country inns, excellent hotels, rustic pubs, gourmet restaurants, lidos, the thermal baths at Lake Constance, animal and leisure parks, climbing gardens or museums- here you will find everything you desire. Hint: In summer, every cyclist should have his or her bathing clothes, as a spontaneous jump into the lake is a must on a tour on the Lake Constance Cycle Path.

The best way to explore the region is by bike!
