Schaffhausen - Überlingen, approx. 70 km
Following the Rhine upstream you cycle through Stein am Rhein and along the Höri peninsula, where Otto Dix used to paint, to Gaienhofen, where the author, Hermann Hesse lived for a while. From the cycle path you have wonderful views over to the Reichenau island and its monastery and of the volcanic Hegau landscape. After you leave Radolfzell, you carry on to Stahringen, crossing the so-called Bodanrück, a small range of hills, to arrive in Bodman, and its old castle, on the banks of the Überlinger See part of Lake Constance. Continue cycling along the banks of the lake until you reach the former Imperial City of Überlingen.
