The Lake Constance cycle path is the most popular cycle route in Europe. Along the route you will cycle around the lake, get to know three countries and the four islands of Reichenau, Mainau, Lindau and Werd. Highlights of the tour include the medieval cities of Konstanz, Stein, Meersburg and Lindau. In comparison to other cycle routes the daily stages are relatively short as there is a great number of towns and attractions to be discovered along the route. Enjoy the wonderful landscape of the lake against the beautiful background of the Alps.

Day 1
Individual arrival in Konstanz
Take the chance today to visit the flower island Mainau, the “fifth season” of Lake Constance, or enjoy a ramble through the well preserved old part of Konstanz with the council building, the cathedral, the winding laneways of Niederburg and the Mediterranean harbour with the famous statue of „Imperia“. Peter Lenk created this controversial monument, for the prostitutes during the time of the Konstanz Council, where between 1414 and 1418 the only meetings of the church north of the Alps occurred.

Day 2
Konstanz - Meersburg - Friedrichshafen (ca. 25 km)
After breakfast you will cycle to the ferry harbour Staad and will cross the lake with the car ferry to the medieval town of Meersburg with its ancient Merovingian castle and its new castle. The tour today leads through the towns of Hagnau and Immenstaad to the Zeppelin town of Friedrichshafen. The ZeppelinMuseum and the harbour are worth a visit here. Along your trip you will certainly see a few of the modern blimps gliding over the lake.

Day 3
Friedrichshafen - Island town of Lindau - Bregenz (ca. 40 km)
Today’s tour leads you through Langenargen, where you can admire the inspiration for the famous Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. Then you will cycle on through extensive orchards and will reach the Bavarian metropolis of Lindau, whose old town is located on an island and is a protected monument. After a few kilometers you will reach Austrian territory and will cycle along by the lake into the theatre festival town of Bregenz with its unique lakeside stage.

Day 4
Bregenz - Rhein-Delta - Arbon (ca. 35 km)
Take the chance to look around the city of Bregenz which was founded in Roman times with its excellently preserved upper town and famous lakeshore stage. Near Hard, you will cross over the Rhein, which flows here from the Swiss Alps. The delta here is an important nature preservation area. On Swiss ground, in Altenrhein, you will see the Hundertwasser-Hall, the last building of the famous Austrian artist. You will pass through the town of Horn and cycle along the lake shore to the old harbour town of St. Gallen; Rorschach or on to Arbon.

Day 5
Arbon - Kreuzlingen - Konstanz (ca. 30 km)
The last day of the Lake Constance cycle tour leads you through the Swiss Canton of Thurgau which due to its many orchards and its comparatively isolated situation is also lovingly known as “Cider India”. You then cycle along the lake shore through well kept small villages and towns back to the Konstanz. However you may also spend an extra night in Rorschach in combination with a Tour of the Appenzeller Countryside.

Journey home or extension of stay
After breakfast your trip comes to an end. We would, however, be more than happy to extend your stay on the Lake Konstanz cycle path for you
